So, a fresh start and a new look.

Unlike the old blog, this site is more a general purpose portfolio. Here you will find samples of my art and writing, as well as links to my game development projects. And if you’re in the mood to read my rambling thoughts on life, check back with this blog regularly.

I am available for contract work, whether you’re looking to commission a piece of artwork / writing or you’re looking for a freelance programmer (I have 8 years professional programming experience, for more info please contact me.)

Alternatively, if you just want to say ‘hello’, I’m always happy to read emails or respond to blog comments.

Cheers,
Gareth

Glad to be welcomed to the new site Gareth! And thanks for the warning about the old one going down, snagged some blog entries in Evernote (the ones about talent and perseverance and the artist resources). Looking forward to more Art Updates.

    Hi Gareth,
and congrats for the new site. Looking good.

I hope you keep blogging. Especially the indie game development articles are of interest to me.

All the best to your projects!

    Hey Gareth:
Just a heads-up: on IE 8, the lady on the front page is cut off, I can’t see her head or her feet. Pretty belly button, though ;).

She in turn looks good on the iPhone (Safari), but the site otherwise acts very weird on that platform: E.g. when I try to read the blog, The leftside menu remains unscaled, while the main page can be moved and zoomed (which looks weird). However, it is almost unreadable, as the text remains very blurry, like a poorly resolved JPG, even zooming in all the way. I can only read the text by clicking the barely readable “read more” button and then using the “reader” function button (which opens a text version of the page).
Since you will be targeting iOs platforms, afaik, you should try to fix that 😉

Darn, that’s a bit annoying (the safari part). I bought this wp theme, I’ll have to see if I can get some support. Or I may need to change themes. Will see what I can do. 🙂

The image issue is one I know about, it can’t dynamically handle all resolutions. I may change it to a simple repeating pattern, or a smaller image, or something. The lady is a stand-in anyway, until I have something more appropriate.
